Meet the SwimKids Team
Dolphin Coaching Staff

Coach
Dave Tonnesen
has coached for over 20 years and founded SwimKids with Cindy
Tonnesen in 1997. Coach Dave is an ASCA Level 4 coach and has
developed all levels of swimmers through U.S. Olympic Trials. He is
the former Head Coach of Occoquan Swimming (1992-2005), was named
Potomac News Coach of the Year for leading Woodbridge Senior
High School to 4 straight undefeated seasons. Coach Dave has
coached several area summer league teams, including the Lake Ridge
Lancers and the Ridgewood Barracudas, and was awarded a
commendation from the Prince William County Board of Supervisors for
his work as Head Coach of the Prince William County Special Olympics
Swim Team. Coach Dave does all season and workout planning for Team
Dolphin. |

Coach Krissy Bartlett,
an experienced swim
coach for 20 years, has coached with SwimKids, Occoquan Swimming,
and Williamsburg Aquatic Club. As former Head Coach of the
Wellington Dolphins (2000), she led them from last place to winning
divisionals in one season. Coach Krissy is the Regional Trainer for
SwimKids and will be in charge of all Team Dolphin social events. |

Coach Kelley Cooper
has over 20 years
coaching experience and has coached with SwimKids, Occoquan
Swimming, the Old Bridge Breakers, the Dale City Frogs, Hilton High
School, QDD, Special Olympics, and Masters Swimming. Coach Kelley is
a a full time Manager and Coach for SwimKids. |

Coach Allison Griffin
has over 10 years of
coaching experience with teams and has coached Ben Lomond Flying
Ducks, Stonewall Park Explosion, Wellington Dolphins, Brentsville
District High School, and most recently SwimKids. In 2010, while
serving as assistant coach at Brentsville, she helped lead the boys’
team to its first A/AA State Championship title and the girls’ team
to its highest finish at States in school history. Coach Allison
attended Washington & Lee University where she was an All Conference
swimmer, three time letter winner and team captain. Allison is the
General Manager for SwimKids Gainesville. |

Coach
Pam Friend is
a lifelong swimmer, swimming competitively for more than 15 years.
On swimming scholarship, she attended Lock Haven University, and now
works for the United States Air Force, in addition to SwimKids.
Coach Pam has coached the SwimKids Team Dolphin for the past 3
years, and is also a Site Manager for SwimKids. |

Coach Mandy Schlais
has been swimming
competitively for over 15 years, swimming competitively at the
college and high school levels. Coach Mandy graduated from Lawrence
University and is a full time Manager and Coach for SwimKids. |
